Every April, Mississippi officially observes Confederate Memorial Day as a state holiday under Mississippi law. State employees have historically received the day off. The holiday has roots in the post-Civil War era and remains codified in state statute.
Removing it doesn't require a referendum. It doesn't require a constitutional amendment. It requires a majority vote in the Mississippi Legislature — the same people you elect every four years.
Most people who want this gone don't know who to call. Most legislators don't know their constituents care. This page exists to close that gap — one district at a time.
